May the Best Conman Win!
Let’s journey to the exotic setting of the French Riviera for Tryon Little Theater’s big musical of the season, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a comedy, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Jeffrey Lane.
Based on the 1988 movie of the same name (starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin), we follow the misadventures of two con artists, Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson. When they realize they’re both trying to work the same turf, they decide to make a wager to determine who gets to stay. The story twists and turns as the two con men compete to see who can extract $50,000 from the wealthy and gorgeous Christine Colgate.
Described as a “scandalous delight,” Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has a jazzy score and is full of high energy and belly laughs.
