Saluda Sister City, a local non-profit introduces the local community to other cultures. Saluda and Carunchio, Italy were officially joined as Sister Cities in 2015. The towns are amazingly similar… approximately the same population and dynamics, same altitude and same latitude. Since our mission at Sister City is to bring different cultural events to Saluda and Polk County, and to involve our children in these free events, bringing La Terza Classe to the Foothills seemed a perfect opportunity.
La Terza Classe was born in Naples in October 2012. The street is where the project formed and where these buskers had their first achievements. The band plays traditional and modern American and European folk songs: from Bluegrass to Dixieland, also early jazz music up to the Jug Band songs. Their sound melds across all these genres to create their own unique style with typical Neapolitan “theatricality.”
The concert on the Main Stage at Tryon Fine Arts Center is free to the community, and will follow a special cross-cultural music session with the PacJAM youth music program at TFAC earlier in the day. Again, the event is free, but Saluda Sister City and TFAC ask that you reserve a seat by registering through the button above.
