TFAC at the Movies Presents Chariots of Fire

This is the story of two men who run...not to run...but to prove something to the world. They will sacrifice anything to achieve their goals...Except their honor. Chariots of Fire is based on a true story.

Nominated for seven Academy Awards, and the winner four including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score for the now iconic electronic theme song by Vangelis, this 1981 film tackles the weighty subjects of class, antisemitism, and religious convictions in the face of insurmountable challenges.

Chariots of Fire is based on the true story of two aspiring Olympic runners enrolled at the University of Cambridge, who are as far as one can get on the cultural spectrum in post WW I England, where status, money, and class, rule society and academia.

Harold Abrahams comes from a privileged family, but his wealth and status cannot overcome that fact that he is a Jew. He runs to fight the bigotry he encounters.

Eric Liddell was born in China to Scottish missionaries. He is devout in his Christian faith, and runs for the glory of God, despite his family’s staunch disapproval.

As both men head to Paris for the 1924 Olympics, representing Great Britain, the underdog team, they’re put to the ultimate test on the track and in their hearts.

Stars Ben Cross, Ian Charleson, Nigel Havers, Ian Holm, John Gielgude, and Alice Krige

The trailer alone sends chills!!! A must-see movie!
