MEET ANDREW AYDIN

Number one New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award winner, Robert F. Kennedy Book Award Honoree, Will Eisner Comic Industry Award – Best Graphic Memoir…these are just few of Atlanta native, Andrew Aydin’s list of prestigious awards and honors.

Andrew is creator and co-author of the graphic memoir trilogy, March, and the sequel Run, which chronicles the life of Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis. Co-authored with Rep. Lewis, March was the first comics work to ever win the National Book Award. In 2019, Andrew joined with Kelly Sue Deconnick, Matt Fraction, Valentine DeLandro, and Vaughn Shinall to found Good Trouble Productions (GTP). The company creates innovative nonfiction graphic novel and multimedia projects, civics and history comic books for the New York City Department of Education, among other undertakings.

In 2024, Andrew launched the Appalachia Comics Project, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underrepresented Appalachian voices through comics. In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact in the fall of 2024, ACP pairs local survivors with professional creators to document tales of survival, solidarity, and recovery. The result is the impactful and inspiring graphic book, Islands in the Sky. This grassroots effort not only preserves regional history but also provides income, visibility, and resources to communities still rebuilding.
