Pianist Marc-André Hamelin performed in Tryon in November of 2021 and returns to collaborate with Johannes Moser. Mr. Hamelin is known throughout the world as a pianist of the first order. His consummate musicianship and brilliant technique are displayed in performances of the established repertoire and modern compositions. He received a Grammy nomination and a first prize from the German Record Critics’ Association for his own composition, Hamelin: Études. Born in Montreal, Mr. Hamelin is an officer of the Order of Canada.

Songwriter, pianist, vocalist, and activist Nina Simone was one of the most significant musical artists of the 20th century, creating music for the Civil Rights Movement that spanned a wide variety of genres ranging from Jazz to Blues to Classical to Gospel. Honoring this legendary and prolific musician will be a 5-piece ensemble featuring Asheville-NC based vocalists Kelle Jolly and Reggie Headen, accompanied by a trio consisting of WNC locals Derrick Gardner (piano), Connor Law (bass) and Jason DeCristofaro (drums).

Russian pianist and composer Arsentiy Kharitonov has achieved fame and accolades for his “sumptuous tone, technical mastery, broad dramatic range, and elegant phrasing” (Fanfare Magazine). He is the  first-prize winner of the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition and won the Rachmaninov Competition in the Russian Federation. He has appeared at major concert halls in Europe and America.
