After three successful one-woman shows, Dorothy Kirk (Dottie Jean) is excited to bring her unique and passionate storytelling to her hometown of Tryon. Dottie Jean has the magical ability to captivate her audience, taking them back into the 1940s and ‘50s and her early life in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Salisbury. Connie Regan-Blake, one of the world’s most celebrated storytellers, will join Dottie Jean. She has entertained audiences in 47 states and 17 countries with her warmth and humor. Regan-Blake told stories at the very first National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, in 1973 and has been on the stage at every festival since then. For more than 45 years, she has charmed audiences with her stories, whether they’re her own life stories or stories passed down from our Scots-Irish ancestors.

Come early on Saturday and join Connie, one of America's most celebrated storytellers, for her storytelling workshop "Cooking Up Stories" from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Tryon Fine Arts Center. All are welcome!

To register, go to or call 828-258-1113. The first 20 people to register for the workshop will receive free admission to the evening performance of Made from Scratch.
