Pure Poetry II

Tuesday, April 17. 7pm

Backstage on the Veh Stage

On Tuesday, April 17, 7 p.m., seven regional poets will present PURE POETRY II at the Stage Door Series. The poets are Karen Luke Jackson, Hendersonville; Monica Jones and Bob McCall, Tryon; Gina Malone, Asheville; Nancy Pemberton, Columbus; Lee Stockdale, Fairview; Lynne Tanner, Rutherfordton. Each poet has been selected from more than 30 past winners of the Lanier Library Poetry Competition, held annually in April by the Lanier Library, a Tryon landmark.

This year’s poets offer an intriguing range of poetic form, mood, message and style. Several have published in journals and chapbooks, or won literary awards or prizes, or both. Jackson, Stockdale and Tanner are working on book-length manuscripts. Three have day jobs that relate to writing: Malone, a writer for The Laurel of Asheville; McCall, branch manager of the Saluda Library; and Pemberton, teacher of creative writing at ICC-Spindale.

The Stage Door Series is TFAC's newest series, with patrons seated onstage with the artists for a unique perspective on concerts, theater, spoken word events, and more. Seating is limited, so reservations are strongly encouraged. Admission is $5. Beer, wine, and other concessions will be available. Learn more.

Admission: $5
