We are excited to offer summer camp again this summer! It will look a little different this summer due to Covid 19, but the creative team of Kate Riedy, Marianne Carruth and Jody McPherson are leading the way to a fun experience for participants. Numbers of students are limited to 10 this year.
All activites will be held in the Peterson Amphitheater and McMillan Garden this summer. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the theater. Numbers of students this year are limited to 10 to more easily maintain social distancing and other safety requirements.
Presented in collaboration with Tryon Little Theater, the annual Summer Theater Camp allows students ages 8-12 to put on a fully-staged production in just one week! As in seasons past, campers will learn how to build sets, props, assemble costumes and act in a play! However this year, we will embrace the mask by exploring Greek theater. Using a play written by a local playwright, we will take a comedic look at Greek mythology’s origin of the Earth’s seasons. Working in small groups and rotating to different stations, students will be able to explore all parts of the production in a fun and safe environment. Students will create and design their own Greek mask and staging will include social distancing guidelines.
Please note: classes and performances are all subject to last minute cancellation in case of safety concerns for our staff and patrons.
The 2020 TFAC-TLT Summer Theater Camp will be held from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM each day, July 27-July 31, and 8:30 - 10:30 on Saturday, August 1.
