We were excited to offer summer camp this summer!  It looked a little different due to Covid 19, but the creative team of Kate Riedy, Marianne Carruth and Jody McPherson lead the way to a fun experience for participants.  Number of students was limited to 10, in order to maintain social-distancing and other safety requirements.

All activities were held in the Peterson Amphitheater and McMillan Garden.

Presented in collaboration with Tryon Little Theater, the annual Summer Theater Camp allowed students ages 8-12 to put on a fully-staged production in just one week!  As in seasons past, campers learned how to build sets, props, assemble costumes and act in a play! However this year, we embraced the mask by exploring Greek theater. Using a play written by a local playwright, we took a comedic look at Greek mythology’s origin of the Earth’s seasons. Working in small groups and rotating to different stations, students were able to explore all parts of the production in a fun and safe environment. Students created and designed their own Greek mask and staging  included social distancing guidelines.

Please note:  classes and performances were subject to last minute cancellation in case of safety concerns for our staff and patrons.

The 2020 TFAC-TLT Summer Theater Camp was held from 8:00 AM - 12:00PM each day, July 27-July 31, and 8:30 - 10:30 on Saturday, August 1.

We held 2 performances of the show for limited audiences on Saturday, August 1 at 9 and 10. Attendance was limited to NC guidelines for outdoor gatherings and admission was by reservation only.
