Gypsy A Musical Fable

Tryon Little Theater presents a classic based on the life of Gypsy Rose Lee.

Rental Partner Tryon Little Theater brings to the TFAC Main Stage Stephen Sondheim and Julie Styne’s classic, Gypsy A Musical Fable. It is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee. The musical focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with “the ultimate show business mother,” and follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters to perform onstage and casts an eye on the hardships of show business.

Gypsy is frequently considered one of the crowning achievements of the mid-twentieth century’s conventional musical theater art form often referred to as the book musical. Gypsy has been called the greatest American musical by numbers critics and writers.

The TLT production is directed by Laura Delta Peal and music director Pam McNeil.

Gypsy will run February 28 – March 2, and March 7-9 with the Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 pm, and matinees for the Sunday shows at 3 pm. Tickets are only available through the Tryon Little Theater Box Office. For more information or to purchase tickets visit tltinfo.org.
