The Young (and not-so-young) Person’s Guide to the Orchestra
Thursdays @ 4 PM: February 9, March 9 & April 13 (Pavilion)
Clarinetist Igor Begelman is an active educator & has served as a professor of Clarinet at the UNC School of the Arts & Director of Woodwind Program at the Bowdoin International Music Festival
"I highly recommend the series at Tryon Fine Arts Center titled "The Young (and not-so-young) Person's Guide to the Orchestra," presented by Igor Begelman. I attended his January 2023 class, and learned a great deal about the growth of orchestras during the various musical periods. I'm looking forward to what's coming next when I'll learn about the instruments that make up today's orchestras. Mr. Begelman is an excellent and engaging teacher/presenter, and welcomes questions and comments from his audience. I am looking forward to being reminded of things I learned as a "young person" and have forgotten, as well as gaining new information. We are fortunate to have this quality of presentation available to us in Tryon!" Eleanor Cox

Artistic Weavings through Paints & Fibers
Barbara Francois's bold and colorful paintings are created using 'the dot style' and reflect a seemingly 3D image akin to tactile woven fibers while Montagne Handwoven Rugs & Lyn Sterling Montagne's exquisite handwoven linen Tapestries reflect an artisanal kinship to a painted masterpiece. Michael & Zuzana Montagne began working with Lyn in 2010 combining traditional weaving techniques with complex but delicate use of color to create rugs that are at once timeless and modern.
