Thad D. Tinsley Jr. is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina known by his colleagues as Master at his craft. The composer, orchestrator, and arranger of all styles, and idioms is also an educator of Music and a man with a passion. Thad is also a conductor and timpanist. He is a 1990 graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he majored in Jazz Composition and Orchestral Writing. He’s an alumnus of Greensboro College where he majored in the Classical Guitar and Music Composition. Thad has continued to do graduate research work in music. Throughout his seven and a half year stay in Boston, from 1987 through 1994, he has taught hundreds of students from all over the world in arranging, orchestration and guitar of all age groups.
He has worked as a studio Guitarist, Conductor, and performed with many large and small ensembles. In addition, he has also performed as a Solo Jazz and Classical Guitarist. He has also been a Ghost Writer for Independent Films and ensembles throughout Boston in the 80’s and 90’s.
